Tight Ends

Probably should have included the TEs with the WRs because the decision with TEs is very anticlimactic. Heath Miller is the best all around Tight End in the league that noone but the Steelers and their fans recognize. There is a huge dropoff after Heath. Matt Spaeth is the number 2. He can catch some balls but is not the blocker that Heath is. When Heath went down last year I was pretty happy with his receiving production. But, Ben needs that protection so he can take all the time he wants to move around and find the open guy downfield. Sean McHugh is number 3 on the list. He is the versatile jack of all trades Tight End/Fullback. A jack of all trades but master of none. He did perform ok last year and Bruce Arians likes his versatility. So, he's probably in no danger of not making the team. That's 3 TE's. Probably all that will make the team. The Steelers did take a Tight End in the 7th round out of Arkansas State, David Johnson. Bruce is infatuated with the position. He'd probably have 5 or 6 of them if there were enough roster spots. Johnson is a receiver, but also has been rated well as a blocker. I'd say he might be able to play himself onto the practice squad unless he looks better than McHugh. Not totally out of the question. Tomorrow I'll review QB's, Saturday RBs, Sunday Lineman, then move on to the defense. Stay Tuned. Rember Huey Richardson. Another name from the past. Not a good memory for whatever scout and coaches that decided to draft him. I'm sure they're still having nightmares over that one.
